Re: Best way to import the footage from the x70

Sony now has Catalyst Edit as well. I'm not quite sure if it's a "replacement" for Vegas or possibly they're gearing it as a "professional" NLE. Obviously it's going to work will with Sony cameras...

Re: The Basics of streaming question / getting started

the X70 sends MPEG2-TS using UDP. That would need to be converted to RTMP for live streaming to most CDNs. Actually x70 encode for its streaming is the same as its proxy encoding so it's probably...

Re: Need help ASAP re 4K $300 rebate

I think the assumption is that those of us who bought later got the camera at the lower price (after the $200 price drop). The rebate is for the pain (problems) the early adopters had.

Re: Wide Angle Pancake Lens for Pocket Cinema Camera

It may depend on the payload limit of your gimbal.
Do you want MFT and NOT Fisheye?

Rokinon 10mm f2.8 is not Fisheye but weighs 620 grams at $419. This might be the cheapest wide non fisheye but...

Re: How Many Bags and Total Weight Follow You.

Most of my travel is local and parking is nearly impossible in my area.

1 bag with camera and audio and lenses.
1 tripod bag.
1 bag with three lights and light stands.

I try to keep the whole...

Re: Need replacement usb cable

I called Sony Service and talk care of the hard stuff over the phone. As Dave Dixon notes, once you get the file the upgrade is easy.

If you're on a Mac avoid their website headache and just call...

Re: Content Browser Mobile - IOS 9.0

Crash when attempting to open. Sony should have this fixed in six months give or take a year. ;-)

Re: Import issues - the oddest thing!!!

Again did you try creating Camera Archive. I've seen issues both from cards and from hand copied files. FCPX likes it's own metadata it creates when making Camera Archive best.

Re: Import issues - the oddest thing!!!

I've seen some occasional odd behavior when trying to import directly from SD cards from the X70. Try creating a Camera Archive first and importing the clips from that instead.

Re: Sony X70 4K - Lowest bit rate in the industry!

Noting that the just announced Sony FS5 which lists for about $6000 with lens at B&H shoots 4k 8 bit 4:2:0 at 100mbps.

Re: X70 streaming thumbnail

It looks like you have it setup correctly. Make sure you hit that thumbnail button. But I use udp://:1234 (no @) and it works.

Re: X70 streaming thumbnail

It's not clear you've set streaming up correctly.
Have you setup and confirmed WiFi works?
I'm not quite sure what you mean by "thumbnail is not active." It's a hardware button one pushes.

Re: is lens metadata possible?

Some Cameras do. My Sony EX1 (since sold) had that info and it was visible in Sony's own software but not in FCPX. I have a Sony X70 now which I haven't yet checked in Sony's Catalyst Browse but it's...

Re: is lens metadata possible?

While if you look at the Extended Settings in the FCPX Inspector you'd think so, apparently that information is not imported. This despite the fact that FCPX seems to have had that intent from its...

Re: How do you keep track of TBs of footage in multiple formats?

Using CatDV 11.07 Standard (not Pro).
XDCAM EX, XAVC-L (MXF) files can't play (probably needs CatDV Pro with Calibrated plugin).
AVCHD (from Sony and Canon cameras) do play but are not joined when...

Re: FInally switched to FCPX, Which Plug-Ins are Essential?

FXFactory certainly is the candy store. You don't have to actually buy FXFactory's own plugin set to get the FXFactory "framework" to buy the third party plugins. I had been using FXFactory with FCP...

Re: How do you keep track of TBs of footage in multiple formats?

Dan, facing the same issue. For me I have XDCAM EX, AVCHD, XAVC-L. Also since I started using FCPX in its early days, my camera masters are in FCPX Camera Archives.

My reaction to CatDV with MXF...
