FAT/NTS Question

I have an external hard drive, and I heard somewhere that such a drive can be reset from FAT 123 (or whatever it is) to NTS. Does any of this make sense? Thanks.

I know most of us are not steeped in endless cash, but I'm curious if anyone here has perhaps two computers for editing purposes, either as an auxilliary or a way of spreading out different projects....
