Re: MK III Quick Control Button

I watched Philip Bloom's review of the camera last night and he showed how he uses the Q button to adjust the audio levels while recording, so it can be done. It must be a setting in the menu that...

Re: Samyang

Tariq,

I have the Rokinon 85mm 1.5 lens on my 5DM2 and really like it for interviews. It has a long focus throw and is very sharp. The only draw back that I find is that it doesn't have a very...

Re: Does 5d3 have 3-10x digital zoom like T3i/Gh2?

If you need to crop then shoot 4K and do it in post. I can't see why you would need this "feature" in a camera like the 5DM3.....

Re: 5DM2 and VAF-5D2 filter

I think that someone on another blog tried it with the new Rokinon (Samyang) 24 1.4 lens as well as the Sigma 24 1.8 lens and said that they both worked fine. I don't have the Canon 24 L to test out...

Re: 5DM2 and VAF-5D2 filter

Keith,

If you were to shoot with a fixed prime lens you wouldn't have any problems. I find that the focus issues show up on the wide end of zoom lenses.

I would think that the filter would be...

Re: Time lapse questions.

Bruce,

I think that Alex has his math right on this. Make sure that you are shooting JPEG and not RAW. You will need to fit all the stills on one card, unless you want to take a chance and...

Re: 5DM2 and VAF-5D2 filter

Jon,

Thanks for the feedback. There are many pros and cons with the filter. I love being able to shoot video and not worrying about the "fine details" causing problems later on when I go to post....

5DM2 and VAF-5D2 filter

I have been filming for the past week in Brazil trying out the VAF-5D2 sensor filter. If you don't know about this product, here is a link to their website.

VAF-5D2 Optical Anti-Aliasing Filter...

Re: 5DMK3 Question

Sorry Les, but I think that you are wrong on this point. The M3 now does HD output via HDMI (though not a clean signal) when recording. This is a big fix on the M3.

I had budgeted to get a 1Dx...

Re: frustration after NY week - lack of stabilisation shows

Fed,

You are correct. I find that the 7d does a much better job of filming while walking. I like the 5d better for other things, but when getting "walking shots" the 7d with a nice wide like the...

Re: C300 Why so long to give it a street price?

Are you going to pull the trigger on one of these Thierry? Looks like a good camera. I played with one at GV Expo and really liked how it felt in my hands.

Re: New version of FCPX available

I upgraded FCPX tonight and immediately tried to import an XML file that I had exported out of FCP7.

No such luck...

I read on some blog that this was one of the new features. What gives? Did...

Re: Something new from Canon on Nov. 3rd...

Glen,

I guess my comment was not fully accurate, though if the F3 is "professional", then the FS100 would be more "consumer", especially with the cheap body build on the camera. The line is very...

Re: Something new from Canon on Nov. 3rd...

Sorry Robert, but the FS100 is the consumer version of the Sony F3. The Panasonic camera is the AF100/101. I agree with your other comments though. :)

Re: New 5DmkII anti alias optical filter

Philip Bloom blogs about in on his website and he was able to test a prototype and really liked it. I think that they run around $385 or so if I remember correctly. The only downside is that you...

Re: Vibration Compensation??

Andy,

Any lens that provides some sort of image stabilization when shooting video is a good thing. Even with your rig you will have some movement. $200 is a good price compared to what some of...

Re: 17-55mm f/2.8 IS for 5D Mark II

Exactly!! The 24-105 lens is perfect for the 5DmII. I also use it on the 7D and like it much better on the 5DMII. I agree about shooting at F4 because the sensor on the 5DMII is so huge. The...

Re: sync drift: which FCP setup for 23.98?

This is a known problem with the Zoom recorder. I have noticed it with files shot with my Canon 7D. I have now gone to the Tascam DR-100 which doesn't seem to have the audio drift problem.

Now I...

Re: BBC Bionic reconstruction shot with Canon 7D

I saw this broadcast on the BBC when I was there in May. My first thought was that it was shot with an HDSLR, but I thought so for all the right reasons. One of my camera systems is the exact same...

Re: new and vintage 50mm lens tests wide-open

Likewise, A and C.

I am curious to see what your results were. I have an old Nikkor 50mm 1.8 AIS lens that I love shooting with on my Canon 5D. It has such great character.

Re: SmallHD Dp6 (aka DP-SLR) pre Review

I have shot a lot with a Canon 7D on a monopod and using a monitor would not be very productive. I would think that an EVF or even better a Z Finder would be your best option. I find that I need to...

Re: 133x CF card

I have 6 of the Kingston 133x cards and they all have failed. Every single one. They worked for about 6 months and then they would stop recording in the middle of clips.

I switched to Sandisk...

I have gone to transferring the files into FCP using the EOS...
