Nice job. Was this shot with the 16x lens? If so, I am impressed with the quality of the lens, not to say your work as well, very nice.
Maybe you could put up the finished piece when it is done....

Official word on "Changing Mode" problem
Carl Hicks since you seem to be on this board:
What is JVC's position on the "changing mode" problem that has seemed to pop up with various people on this board?
I am thinking of purchasing the...

Which deck?
There was a protype HDV deck at IBC that had a full size cassette. I think that it might have had SDI ports on it as well, though not sure on that one. I couldn't get my hands on the deck to double...

I bought a Cavision adapter for my JVC 500 a few years back. sent it back to Canada as quick as I could. Lost money on the taxes and shipping I had to pay. Biggest piece of crap that I ever...

good tripod
Check out the Libec line. They have good prices at B&H. 3 year warranty as well. I had one and had a problem with a part coming loose, they overnighted me a new part right away, no charge.

Nate,
I have been able to export .m2t streams from Compressor. Use the MPEG2 option and then under extras select the option to create a transport stream. You can also select the compression level...

case for HD100
Tim,
You can't beat Portbrace. You could get a great bag for around $300 or so.
I would go their website, www.portbrace.com, and check out what they have. Great stuff. I have about 4 of...

MPEG 2 Encoding
I have been fighting this as well. I have heard that it is better to use the single pass encoder instead of the 2 pass and that the quality is just as good but is much faster.
I have been...

Panasonic or Sony chips in new HL1?
Maybe Panasonic didn't want to work with Canon? If they gave the use of their 720p/60 chips to Canon wouldn't that steal sales from the HVX200? Panasonic has made a major point of showing the flaws...

HVX200 Workflow?
I believe that if you shoot 720p24 you get 20 minutes of footage for each 8gig card. I maybe wrong but I believe that is what Jan said at a presentation that I attended at DV Expo East a few months...

Sports doc with Z1
I don't think that the HC1 will handle the motion any different than the Z1. The issue is with how the HDV format handles motion in the MPEG compression.
I HC1 is a great size, I was able to play...

Maybe what you should do is rent a Z1 and see if you have any problems with the high speed motion of your subjects.
Believe me I love the Z1, but I'm not sure if it is the best option for high...

I am not sure if the Z1 is the best choice for this.
Believe me I have one and love it, but MPEG2 doesn't handle high motion rates real well. If you want HD, I would consider the new Panasonic...

Downconvert
Well I am on a Mac, so the VASST software is not an option.
It is hard to believe that timecode can't be copied on a clone tape.
Is this because of the HDV format? I know that some software...

Downconvert via Firewire with timecode
I am trying to downconvert via the Z1 to a DVCAM deck (DSR-20).
I can't get the timecode to copy across to the DVCAM deck. This would be nice for when I want to re-edit my footage as HDV instead...

Traveling with the Z1
I just returned from a 2 week shoot in Southern Asia with the Z1. I shot in Thailand, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Indonesia. The camera worked great.
I would really suggest getting the Z1 for one...
