Re: FS5 LCD Sun Hood
Thanks! Just ordered one. Like Kevin I also wear glasses so, once it arrives and I've modified it to fit, there are times when this could be very useful.

Re: SanDisk SxS cards???
Yes!
Been using them for 8 years on my old EX3 and now on my PMW-300. I think Sandisk actually made SxS cards for Sony but most were branded as Sony, just a few (in the early days) carried the...

Well that's why you can't get the Auto ND to work then!

Re: PMW-300. Sonnett SD-SXS-E34. SDXC Cards
Ditto the above - with my PMW-300. Exact same Sandisk SDXC cards but I'm using a MxR Extreme 3 Adapter (from e-Films) - again no problems (although in truth I can't think when I last used my adapter...

Re: FS5 Auto ND
Sorry if this is obvious...but you have to assign a button (within the Camera Setup Menu functions) so that Auto ND can be switched On or Off - and then activate it by turning it on! Have you done...

Re: Heads-up: new Metabones firmware!
I believe Metabones released a further firmware "tweak" (at the very end of June).
It is now v0.52.
Still not sure if this will retain image stabilisation on lenses like the Canon 17-55mm F2.8...

Re: FS5's XDCAM update
Very interesting...thanks for sharing.
So why did they put a XDCAM logo on the side of the FS5?...and why on Earth did they announce it was coming?
Poor show Sony (not that I would have bought...

Re: Heads-up: new Metabones firmware!
But be aware everyone that there are several reports of issues with IS (image stabilisation) not working (at all) now on some Canon lenses such as the 24-105mm F4 IS and 17-55mm F2.8 EF-S IS with...

Re: FS5's XDCAM update
Doug, Sony announced this at the same time as the version 2 firmware update (auto ND etc.) and the paid raw update.
Like the raw update it requires purchase of another (i.e. separate) software...

I was talking to someone about exactly this today...it might take many months before back orders are filled from what I have heard so I guess prices are bound to rise sharply for any remaining, in...

Re: PMW-300K1: It finally happened (problem)
"This camera has been around since 2011"
Not true. The PMW-300 was announced in June 2013 and I bought it as soon as it was available in the UK which was at the start of 2014...

Re: Card failures!
Nope.
It was a standard feature on my Canon C100 bought at launch in several years ago. Never had a card failure on the C100 or my recent FS5 (I only use numerous, fast Sandisk SDXC cards bought...

Re: Fixed, fast lens for FS5
Hi Chad,
1. All hand held - I promise (the odd shot was resting on a fence post or whatever). But, unlike my heavier C100 and much heavier, semi-shoulder PMW-300, I find the FS5 is very...

Re: PXW-FS5 - New version 2.0 is released
It should be absolutely fine. Sony site says "for Version 1.11 or earlier". Not sure why you would not have installed V1.11 as there was an important encoding fix in that one.
Software: PXW-FS5 :...

Re: Fixed, fast lens for FS5

Re: PXW-FS5 - New version 2.0 is released
Just got back from shooting around town in the sun. This is great news!
I think it was actually 5% either side of set-point in Firmware V1.11. With that I've been setting my Zebras to 95% and...

Personally, I would not pay that much money to repair a relatively old camera. You could probably buy a fully working used example from a reputable dealer for not much more/may be able to sell yours...

Re: Fixed, fast lens for FS5
Canon 35mm F2 IS is a lovely lens on the FS5, currently behaving as a slightly over 50mm as you know (!) with the Standard Metabones MkIV. The focus ring on it is butter smooth and I find it very...
