Re: 5D noise in gray seamless backdrop

Something interesting I came across the other day. Watching a podcast, Robbie Carman and he said that he tests all his 5Ds and 7Ds to find out what the best ISOs are for each of them.

I've always...

Re: Apple Puts Legacy Final Cut Studio Back on Sale

A more gentle transition from 7 to X would have been a smart move. But now Apple's put a lot of people's backs up with what seems like sheer arrogance, their decisions in this area will be watched...

Venetian Police boat siren needed

Does anyone have access to a sound file of the police boats sirens used in Venice? I need it for a soundtrack, the director is quite specific…
Thanks in advance

Re: To Mac or not to Mac: The Future for Mac-based editors

I can't use FCP X as it is, so I'm sticking with 7 for now. If Apple in their arrogance decide not to reintroduce the pro features we've recently lost, then Adobe will get my money when it becomes...

Re: hoodman loupe 3.0/mag/etc. for 5D and glasses

Maybe I was ripped off and bought a hooky one from someone… It's not always easy to get the America stuff here. You wouldn't believe how much they charge for postage at Zacuto and then there's...

Re: hoodman loupe 3.0/mag/etc. for 5D and glasses

I have the Hoodman which I don't like and the original Z-Finder which I do. I bought an upgrade kit for the Hoodman and it did absolutely nothing. What a rip off.

I use the Loupe either hand held...

Re: 5D versus 1D for lowlight filming

I know StillMotion use the 5D2, the 7D and the 1D4 so they cover all bases in terms of light, and sensor size.

Re: What is the workflow for 5DM2 video on Final Cut Pro?

I just copy the mov files to a new folder in the project folder, transcode them the XDCAM HD422 using MPEG StreamClip and use those. They come into FCP looking good.

Re: Technicolor Cinestyle Initial Tests

These look good Justin, I wish I could use it next week shooting a doco in the States but I have to match with existing footage and other cameras for the project as much as I can, so I have to play...

Re: Music video shot using Technicolor CineStyle

I agree Jon, it seems to be nearer to Neutral but better I thought. Just personal I guess.

Re: 5D or 7D - overheat factor-

Shooting a two hour show in a warm theatre caused the 7D to overheat and lock up twice. That meant the files that had been recorded got corrupted and couldn't be retrieved despite various prolonged...

Re: Best ND filter for sunny days?

Oh and by the way, I've tried a cheaper brand and it made all my shots very soft. Not useable at all in fact. Lightcraft and Sing Ray seem to be the best I think.

Re: Best ND filter for sunny days?

Mine has markings but they're next to useless because they don't have any numbers, just lines.
Robert's right, use the meter on the camera.

Re: 5D footage for broadcast

I understand the BBC tech department produce a white paper on what cameras are allowed and not allowed. The was a white paper saying no to the 5D2 when it came out. But still they accept work from it...

Re: Music video shot using Technicolor CineStyle

I was doing test shots the other evening with CineStyle and encountered the banding in the shadow areas and was sadly coming to the conclusion that it was perhaps a little too flat for me. I've been...

Re: Zoom lens questions

I have both the 24-70 2.8 and the 70-200 2.8 IS and like them in all kinds of situations.

I have shot quite a bit of theatre work with them and they always come out well.

My mate who helps...

Re: What is the best way to attract Actors for Independent Film?

Amateur theatre groups. There are some seriously good actors out there. I know, I've used them before.

Re: Favorite prime lens?

I'm going to the States in June to shoot a documentary and only taking primes with my 5D2 and 7D.

20, 35, 50, 85 and 135.

Mainly because of the weight of my 24-70 ad 70-200 lenses, but also...

Re: Favorite prime lens?

I've only just started using a 35mm and I'm finding that's getting chosen more than my 500mm recently. So I guess that's the one I'd pick.
