Re: Panasonic lumix g6, wow

You'd likely be better off with the 25mm f1.4 rather than the 20mm f1.7 for the OMD EM5, I'm seeing multiple references to banding issues with the 20mm at high ISOs on that camera. So far I've seen...

Re: Panasonic lumix g6, wow

I have and use the 20mm f1.7, 25mm f1.4, 45mm f1.8, and the 75mm f1.8.

None of them have IS and that doesn't cause me any problems. If I'm going handheld I use the lightweight SpiderBrace...

Re: Lock/unlock tab broke Scandisk 64 extreme

Jeff, just stop using that card. Your camera body is a $1300 piece of gear. You don't want to risk part of that sliding lock coming loose or off in the card slot.

Don't take a chance even if...

Re: Telephoto lens: 100-300mm or 45-200mm?

Generally I would feel the 45-200 would be more flexible in the wedding/event setting. Autofocus performance does suffer at the telephoto end of most long zooms, I have the 45-200 and find autofocus...

Re: Panasonic lumix g6, wow

Nice highlights reel, Steve. Very good job of "blending" camera looks. I could not pick out any specific cameras.

Rokinon 85mm Cine T1.5 For Sale

I got this a few weeks ago from the B&H used dept. Looks brand new!

Re: GH3 flickering exposure

Ed, you may not be in full manual as you think.

With the mode dial on top set to the movie camera icon, look in the menus for EXPOSURE MODE. This will offer four choices: P(rogram, A(perture...

Re: Sign up for DVC 23!!!

Just had cataract surgery. If the last eye heals quick enough, I'll try to get something in (Doc's nurse tells me the 3rd eye is free!).

Re: GH3 And Battery Clones

I tried clones for the Olympus E-P3 and for the Lumix Gh2 and definitely did NOT have good luck. Of the pair ordered for the E-P3 one died totally on the 4th use cycle (as in would not take a charge...

Re: Best M43 camera for flash photography?

If you do, then look into the Paul C. Buff "Alien Bees" line. Funky name but really decent affordable studio monolights. You'll find cheaper but those will be mostly "junk" level crap with little...

Re: Preferred LCD loupe/extender?

I'm mostly with Alan on this. Just had cataract surgery and opted for the astigmatism correcting lens implants. With that done I don't have to mess with eyeglasses for distance vision, properly...

Re: Panasonic lumix g6, wow

I did. Got it in Nikon F mount as I had the adapter and a couple of Nikon lenses on hand. So far all I've been able to test it with has been on stills and seeing what it does with exterior lighting...

Re: Micro third lens/fd lens

.

Trust Dan Carter on this. You can pretty much trust anything he says, too. A lot of wedding guys are using the 12-35 in combination with the 35-100 and getting very good results. Definitely...

Re: Panasonic lumix g6, wow

Steve, those videos look great "kit" lens and all. I've read that "kit" lens is an improvement over what has been included with the previous G series.

As far as it not looking "professional", the...

Re: gh3 audio

Absolutely NOT!

Only the settings data display and vu meters disappear after 10 seconds. Those come right back if you block the eye sensor briefly with a hand.

You can look at this as a...

Re: gh3 banding issues

I have encountered no banding issues of any kind with my GH3's. I've tested up to ISO 6400 and have seen no banding and no objectionable noise (if you really hunt for it you'll find some but for me...

Re: GH3 Corrupt MTS Files

Drop Lexar from that list, not quite a "junk" brand but not one of the better ones either. Panasonic might be OK but the only ones I really trust are SanDisk.

Also check your card reader, the...

Re: Panasonic, PLEASE give us a faster wide!! 7mm @ 4.0 isn't going to cut it!!!

There is NO WAY I would attach an inferior piece of glass to this lens!

No, they are not all OK. A few may approach "acceptable", but many will approach varying degrees of "atrocious". Most...

Re: GH2 Sit Down Interview Lenses - My Final Quest

I don't fundamentally disagree with this, but he has found his 50mm has him backing uncomfortably far away from the subject. He is likely working in more confined spaces than you do. While I've had...

Re: GH2 Sit Down Interview Lenses - My Final Quest

Jack, if your tripod has a removable head and the thread on the bolt sticking up from the legs is 1/4x20 (same as standard 1/4x20 tripod thread) there is an excellent inexpensive "fluid effect" had...

Re: GH2 Sit Down Interview Lenses - My Final Quest

I have this lens and LOVE it! But it puts him in the same ballpark as his 50mm which has him baking away uncomfortably far to get the framing he wants.
