Re: Archival system Sony ODS77

I'm always VERY suspicious of claims for archival life for any non-stamped optical media.

One of my Japanese friends was for several year the VP in charge of optical disk development for a...

Re: Once expensive, now junk, but still hard to throw away?

I just came across a Canon GL2 in great shape sitting in a file drawer.

But thanks to Kodak, Super 8mm film is back! They're releasing a new camera. I'm tempted.

Kodak Goes Retro With New...

Re: How Many Stop ND Filter Do You Use For DSLR Video

I find that 6 stops of ND definitely isn't overkill on a sunny day here in Arizona on my BMCC/BMPCC cameras - but lately I more often use a B&W variable ND. Something to watch is that as you get...

Re: Rode NTG3 - On Camera Doc / ENG Suitability

I had one of the Canon 100-400 lenses. Great lens but I disliked the push-pull zoom so now looking for something else. Thinking about an EF mount Sigma 150 - 600 but haven't decided yet.

Also...

Re: Just ordered a C100 Mk II - using with Shogun

No big issues - except for the Mk I's less than great EVF. But I've gotten to where I can use it well enough and I also have the Zacuto unit that snaps on to the LCD display when needed. And I use...

Re: Just ordered a C100 Mk II - using with Shogun

Congratulations - I'm sure you'll love it. I went for the Mk I to save $$$ and couldn't be happier. Amazingly good in low light.

Re: Matchmove/VFX before or after speed change

Not sure it would really matter - I think Syntheyes just looks at each frame as a still image one after the other. Of course I'm probably wrong. Have you asked Russ? I bet he'd answer this

Re: Once expensive, now junk, but still hard to throw away?

I wonder if my JVC HD110 falls into this category. Still a great camera and honestly 720P isn't so awful for You Tube - except lately everybody expects HD. I've got it feeding a Ninja2, so no issue...

Re: SD Card Hot-Swapping - C100 mkII

Yeah - seems to be same as Mk I in this regard - the manual text is the same.

Re: Bmpcc second attempt

Hi Noa

For some reason I don't seem to be able to open the clips. Neither Quicktime nor Resolve like them them. Nor Edius 6 for that matter.

I'm running Win 7.

I played around a bit with the...

Re: Bmpcc second attempt

Hi Noa

Wow - I'd like to help. If I could download a few frames of the ProRes I'll bring it up in Resolve tomorrow evening (my clients are here from Tokyo until mid afternoon so can't work on it...

Re: Import Image Sequence (PNG) to Premiere CC

Hi Ann

Yes, they are in numbered sequence and RGB. QuickTime can convert them to MOV just fine but I have no idea what parameters it uses.

I'm trying to import into PP 2015. I go to "Import" and locate the 1st file of the sequence and check the...

Re: EVS's new C300 MK II custom foamed-out case

Is the photo reversed? Hard to really see it but it looks like the cutout for the hand grip is on the right side of the camera when the real thing is on the left.

Re: Bmpcc second attempt

Exactly - a sensor in a box with a recorder. When they figure out how to incorporate an ND filter and a viewfinder and some useful buttons I might start to think of them as cameras. As it is we have...

Re: Bmpcc second attempt

Hi Noa

How can the BMPCC have the world's worst ergonomics? I think my BMCC is worse than my BMPCC in the ergonomics department.

Anyway, they both suck!!!

But the picture is great. As shown...

Re: Bokeh-Focus-Object Shrinkage Effect?

Maybe you're thinking of Focus Breathing???? Google it and see if it's what you're thinking of. Basically image size changing as you focus.
