Re: No Exposure Comp w GH2 with Legacy Lens
Shutter Priority does work, but in Shutter Priority exposure mode exposure compensation doesn't, even with native M4/3rds optics.
@Kevin - In a low light situation you really wouldn't want your...

Re: No Exposure Comp w GH2 with Legacy Lens
This is an article I wrote late last year. I'm waiting to see what differences may appear in GH3 to see if I need to make any changes before submission. You may use keep this for your personal...

Re: No Exposure Comp w GH2 with Legacy Lens
You should be in full manual mode for what you want to do. Being able to set exposure compensation seems to be available in Aperture Priority but not Shutter Priority, even with a "native" Micro...

Re: GH2 Body only at Amazon for $499
I look for existing inventories to go very fast at this price, then there will be no more new GH2 bodies available. If I didn't already have 2 I'd jump on this deal fast, and if I didn't have a GH3...

Re: How many of you have hacked your GH2?
Oh, to answer the question posed in this thread:
I've applied firmware patches to the GH2 body I purchased used. I first ran the Sanity 5 patch and recently changed to Flowmotion 2.02. With both...

Re: How many of you have hacked your GH2?
You should be able to come fairly close. I wouldn't go higher than ISO 10,000, 12,800 looks pretty bad but that footage at 10,000 looks pretty good. Get out and test under conditions similar to...

Re: Wavy Background
CFL's can be very bad offenders in this area. Be sure your shutter speed either matches or is a multiple of the power line frequency. In the US this should be 1/60th second (or multiple), in...

Re: GH2 with 14-42 lens at Samy's for $649
Guy,
How about a link to that "sale"? I just searched on Samy's website and they are listing the GH2 with 14-42 at $779. The G3 is listed at $549 (and is out of stock) but it doesn't have the...

Re: Chance to shoot gh2 on two days notice
First off, that 1.7 ND in my post above should be 1.2 (4 stops reduction).
Second: Tiffen does make a 1.5ND but the one I found at B&H is in 52mm, I'll be ordering one of those soon.
Third: ...

Re: Chance to shoot gh2 on two days notice
Chris,
Shane Hurlbut (DP for "Act Of Valor" much of which was shot with 5D MkII's) says Tiffen delivers the quality in filters he wants. I've used Tiffen for years as they do what's advertised...

Re: Chance to shoot gh2 on two days notice
Actually I use those for 30p shooting. I don't use 24fps for several reasons, the main one is that more folks than you realize can see the "flicker" effect of 24fps and some wind up with headaches...

Re: Lens question for the group
The Lumix 20mm f1.7 is a nice "fast" lens. I consider it "wide normal" in coverage and it's pretty affordable. $359.95 at B&H. It's often my "walkaround" lens.
Another is the Panasonic Leica DG...

Re: Hacked GH2 @42 Mbps in AVCHD 10,000 iso !
Most of the "hacks" or "patches" allow you to remove the ISO limit of 3200 in Motion Picture mode, but by itself "ramping up" the ISO to 6400 or 12,800 may give disappointing results. The video...

Re: Variable ND filter
A variable ND filter is actually two "pieces" of glass so when using one you are introducing FOUR additional potentially reflective layers. This could partially explain the softness some are seeing...

Re: New Lens Purchase
As near as I can tell everything else works. I have the Olympus 45mm and really like it, use it on both GH2's and an Oly Pen E-P3.
That would be great but Oly users love the IBIS. I just...
