Re: Sony PXW-X70 announced: Pro XDCAM version of AX100

Or how about a Z100 with the X70's 1" sensor? It would lose some of the zoom range, but it should increase the light sensitivity. That would be a fair trade off.

Re: Sony PXW-500 Launched

Looks like an eventual replacement for the PMW-500. Both use CCD sensors.

Re: Sony PXW-X70 announced: Pro XDCAM version of AX100

I work a lot with the EX3, which is almost identical to the EX1/1R. I now own a PMW-300.

A bigger sensor gives you better control over the depth of field. I'm thinking the X70 would be better in...

Re: Love B&W photography but can't afford a Leica?

There's a rumor that Sony will soon release a monochromatic sensor RX1-type camera. I hope it's true.

Re: New Sony Pro XAVC Compact Camcorder

It has the XAVC 50mb, 10-bit 4:2:2 codec, and it seems to record to SDXC cards. Is that a first for a Sony camera?
I like the SDI port.
Isn't Sony going to stop production of the PMW-100? Is this...

Re: PMW-100, 150, and 200 to be discontinued

I can see Sony making a PMW-200 replacement that's basically the PXW-X180 with 1/2" sensors. It'd need a new body, of course, since the chips are bigger.

If this rumor is true, the PMW-200...

Timoecode? Does it have one?

Re: Sony FDR-AX100

I have yet to see an AX100, but the local Best Buy had a CX100 on display. So, close enough for size comparison.
These cameras are HUGE next to their video camera brethren. Twice as big, twice the...

Re: Is the Blackmagic URSA a game changer?

Agreed, Charles. Not that I want a 16+ lb. camera on my shoulder, but if it's well balanced, I'd prefer that to an EX3. They're the worst cameras to hand hold. An F800 is heavy, but it balances well...

Re: When will come out a 4K Canon or Panasonic handycam?

It's a $2,000 4K Handicam, guys. What do you expect? In the end, it's still a consumer cam, albeit a darn good one.
I'd say it delivers a lot for the price. I don't know if I prefer it over the GH4,...

Re: Blackmagic has two new 4K cameras at NAB - "URSA" & "Studio Cam"

When I work audio, I normally use a mixer. We usually set audio with tone beforehand. The levels are then adjusted from the mixer.
But again, I'd prefer to see the audio levels while filming. This...

Re: Blackmagic has two new 4K cameras at NAB - "URSA" & "Studio Cam"

I've been looking over the design of this camera - as much as I can from videos and pictures - and I think it's a pretty nice system, especially for the money. I see it as a mainly tripod-mounted...
