Re: A deeper question. "Ringing" fluid head

The 516 head does in fact have a CB system, though only a fixed spring non variable one.

About as much use as an ash tray on a motor cycle, but a CB system, never the less.

Red herring...

Re: Sachtler Speed Lock 75 Leg Hooks?

Hi, Vince...........

You're obviously missing a vital component for those 75 CF's.

They should have been delivered with a double ended Velcro strap, one end of which fits around one of the lock...

Re: Vinten 5AS (older head) vs newer blue5 model, any insight?

Hi Josh.............

First off, the 5AS isn't "outdated" in any way.

The AS range was a brand new head design from the ground up, the primary difference between them and the Vb heads being...

Re: One of my 501HDV's Pan Teflon discs broke

Well, in that case, mate, to quote the Venerable Bead, "You're Royally Screwed!".

What is applicable to Vinten, Sachtler and OConnor heads in no way maps to Manfrotto, and even they (V, S & O)...

Re: One of my 501HDV's Pan Teflon discs broke

Umm Jack,

I can't, for the life of me, understand what this "advice" was expecting to achieve other than the total destruction of some or all of the entire system.

With every control maxed...

Re: Sachtler CF-100 ENG HD 2 CF Tripod

Very good buy there James, you must have deep pockets, they ain't cheap.

You have, however, fallen for what appears to be a popular misconception:

Actually, you haven't. There are two...

Re: Swapping springs on Vinten 3AS

Mikael, thanks for the concern.

Luckily, here in Dunedin, it's the least geologically active region in the entire country (not that that is any guarantee of anything, NZ is a geological war zone,...

Re: Annual upgrading from Manfrotto thread.

Good reply, James.

Victor actually mailed me direct with almost the same question on the 18th, my reply was thus:

He obviously didn't think much of my response.

"You can please some of...

Re: Swapping springs on Vinten 3AS

I can answer the Q about the manuals.

If you waltz over to the Vinten web site, you'll see "My Vinten" on the top bar.

Click on that and go to "Create a New Customer Account", you'll need a...

Re: Swapping springs on Vinten 3AS

Hi, guys...................

Interesting thread.

As far as I know, yep, the only difference between the 3AS and the 5AS is the spring rating.

What I do NOT know is whether the springs in...

OK, news just in.............

From Andrew Butler at Vinten: Sachtler are NOT producing a version of the bB SCA at this time and apparently have no plans to do so.

Re: FSB6 or FSB4

Hi, guys............

The Vinten blueBridge Small Camera Adapter was "supposed" to be a combined Vinten/ Sachtler product (when I first heard about it last year, anyway).

Having read this...

Re: Brand specific decks required to convert/digitize PAL HDV to NTSC?

Don't think so, for the same reason the Sony decks won't read the Canon tapes.

However, as you're definitely going to need a Canon HDV camera to read the Canon tapes, no harm trying.

Re: Brand specific decks required to convert/digitize PAL HDV to NTSC?

If the Canon tapes were shot using their propriety 24f system, the Sony decks will not reckognise them.

You're going to have to find a Canon HDV camera to get them downloaded, no other way to do...

Re: Vinten, Sachtler, Libec, Miller, Manfrotto Shootout

Yeah, figured it was the way to go.

Got the Vinten Vb3 and blueBridge Small Camera Adapter review just about ready for launch (finally!), may have to do the same for some of that.

Seems a...

Re: Vinten, Sachtler, Libec, Miller, Manfrotto Shootout

Almost embarrassed to resurrect this thread once more, but there is an important update which has been long overdue.

About the time the last of the reviews rolled off the production line here, I...

Hi, Matthew........

Could you be a bit more specific than "capture card"? Is this a Firewire card, or something else, and if so, what?

What, exactly, is your system spec and OS? Do you have...

Re: O'Connor, Vinten, Sachter for telephoto lenses?

Glad to see you took on board the FiberTec info.

Having been mulling over my last post, I'm even more convinced that they would be the ultimate answer if mated with a Vinten head.

They're way...

Re: Need a tripod that can handle up to 70kg weight

I don't use a head with the 528XB, as the Hague jibs act as their own.

The jib central pivot tower base has both 100 mm and 75 mm projections which engage in the bowl of any 100 mm or 75 mm half...

Re: O'Connor, Vinten, Sachter for telephoto lenses?

Hi, Alan.................

Them's some serious lenses to be parking on a humble tripod.

As you've already put the O'Connor 1030 into play, I shan't bother with the "what budget" question, you've...
