Just got a few calls from the Tom Green show

I just got a few calls from the people at the Tom Green show, and they said they are excited about the music video I sent them, but I have to sign a thing and my mom has to sign a thing since i'm under 18... OMG OMG!!!

Dylan Couper August 25th, 2003 08:37 PM

John Heskett August 25th, 2003 08:38 PM

Cool!
Which music vid did you send?

Imran Zaidi August 25th, 2003 08:49 PM

Toldja it was enjoyable! Congrats!

So are ya gonna tell us how you did the golden flickering effect in your music vid? ;)

Mark Moore August 25th, 2003 09:02 PM

Congrats, Alex. That's great. Does the defecating-Kitty have to sign a release too?

Robbie Smolinsky August 25th, 2003 09:57 PM

Hey Alex! Thats fantastic! That just goes to show you, that since they were recieving other music videos, yours really must have rose above the rest (this comes as no suprise as I and others thought it was real funny). But the fact that yours stood out so much makes it all the more exciting, you should be proud! Well, I'll be sure to watch, and hope to see it, good luck!

Robbie

Good work, Alex.

Ivan Hedley Enger August 26th, 2003 12:07 PM

Well done, Alex!

Alex Knappenberger August 26th, 2003 01:47 PM

Man, this rocks. I've been sending emails back and forth with the lady (megan) who is responsible for the legal stuff of the show, and she sent me a bunch of forms that I had to get cleared, for myself and all that, and in this one email she said:

"Call me with any questions. And watch the show tonight. Tom and everyone
here loves your tape. Thank you."

TOM AND EVERYONE, AHHH....rockin. heh

One thing I find funny though, is i've been told to "be sure to watch the show" about 3 times now, twice by her, and once by this one stoner dude who must work there, haha. Oh no, i'm a 15 year old who watches the tom green show everynight regardless, and something I made is going to be on MTV, nope, I think i'll just go to bed. Hah.

Humby Valdes August 26th, 2003 02:01 PM

Congrats man!

What are the specs on your setup?

Alex Knappenberger August 26th, 2003 02:25 PM

Thanks.

Setup? My camera and stuff? My camera is just a crappy $350 Panasonic, and I have a 750w Lowel Tota. :D

Alex Knappenberger August 26th, 2003 08:06 PM

Forget it.

Alex-I feel so bad because we're not using the clip on the show tonight, so
I don't want you to go through the trouble of finding the releases. We all
loved your clip and thought it was hilarious---but it didn't make it.
E-mail me your address and I'll get you an autographed picture.

Mark Moore August 26th, 2003 08:09 PM

Tough luck, but that's like making it to the top ten or something. I'll bet they received a bunch of tapes and yours warranted a lot of conversation.

Congrats anyway! You should be pleased.

John Heskett August 26th, 2003 08:10 PM

Bummer

I thought the clip was you best work to date. Keep at it.

Alex Knappenberger August 26th, 2003 08:16 PM

Eh, oh well. The clip on there tonight better be better then mine, or i'm going nuts. :D

I'm inclined to say thats a tough break, but when you think about it, it is still one heck of an accomplishment! You should be proud that a popular comedian along with a crew of people who specialize in the field of comedy/entertainment found your video so hilarious (as they themselves said), so don't sell yourself short! I'm guessing that maybe one reason it may have been cut is because of length, the video was great as a whole and it really wouldn't be as funny if it was just cut up in short clips. From watching the show, it appears to me like they just pick apart short sections of videos for their stupid physical type humor and don't really show any longer clips with clever verbal humor as you had shown. But you still stood out from all the rest, and that in itself entitles you to some bragging rights....so keep up the good work!

Alex Knappenberger August 26th, 2003 08:42 PM

Yeah, I agree Robbie. I bet it was one of their editors or something who said it wouldnt work, because you really couldnt pull any clips from it that would be self contained enough to air, so I can put myself in the shoes of a editor there, trying to figure out what to do...

Hal Huntsman August 27th, 2003 03:53 AM

Congrats anyway on all the interest. Wish I'd had that kind of opportunity when I was in high school...it's way cool...maybe next time you can use a rectal cam in slow-mo on the cat.

Dean Sensui August 27th, 2003 06:29 PM

Alex...

You might not have made it to the show this time, but you made the initial cut and that's a lot further than a lot of others have gone.

Darn good for a 15-year-old, I'd say! Heck it's darned good, period!

Keep going. Don't feel discouraged at all. I can't think of them right off hand but there have been some great works that saw a lot of rejection slips along the way.

Congratulations!

Alex,

don't get dicouraged, I submitted tons of photos to snowboard magazines before any got published, a number of times I got "this is a great shot, we'll use it" then at the last minute it would get bumped for some name photog's shot. Hell, I nearly scored a cover only to have it bumped completely from the mag.

It takes time and persistance. Your are competing in a very competitive market, especially for Tom Green/Jackass style footage. It was easy when It was new, I remember spending some time with the guys who did the Whiskey series of vids back in 98 and they were saying even their stuff gets lots in the crowd now, and that was 6 years ago.

Stick at it, keep it fresh, and you'll get there.

limk doesn't work -- anyone care to re-host it? :) i wanna see this :D
