A little project I am working on.... a motorcycle show.

the clip gets cut off at the end... I know, it cuts out the capper of the whole peice.. but imagine about 10 more seconds of motorcycles passing (I need to re-encode it... just dont have time RIGHT now).

Shot with a JCV DV500 and Sony VX1000 on a Steadicam Jr.
It was the first time the Sont operator had used a Steadicam, so some of the running shots arent as "steadi" as they could be... and we also had to nearly get the car crossed up to get the bikes up to speed. Will be using an on board bike set up for the next time... work much better.

its a pilot segment. just doing a little test.

Sorry, I have watched it a couple times, it' just hard for a lot of us to reply to everything (with schedules and all). I though it was a nice piece, I liked the different shots and the rep talking about the product, very cool. We do a fair amount of product marketing segments, and oddly enough I like creating them over other types of work. My only complaint on your segments was the motion of the camera, a bit too much (in my opinion). Did you use any stabilizer funtions on the camera? The motion was fairly constant. That was with a steadicam?

The shots of bikes running down the road was shot with a Steadicam JR and a VX1000. Unfortunately it was the operators first day with the rig. Throw in the fact that we had to haul arse to keep in front of the bikes. It could have steadier thats for sure.

The footage taken during the ride was fine. And with the motion of tree's going by and the bikes rolling through the turns, the motion was blended well enough. It was the motion of the camera during the initial shots as well as some of the non-ride shots that maybe could have been a bit more steady. Perhaps shooting with a tripod in the future would improve the look everall.

It was a nice piece otherwise, you did good. Did LeoVince get some use out of it?

No use for Leo Vince yet.. its part od a pilot motorcycle show we're doing.

They said they would like to use it for a trade show.. perhaps I can work out a deal with them.

It's a good tradeshow piece for sure. Hit them up for it CHA-CHING!

More than 75% of the product marketing pieces we create are used for tradeshows, since budgets tend to open up during those times.

Very nice work. Did you bump up the color in your editor at all? They look great, but almost too great. In the first scene with the woman talking, the red for me sort of stood out a little too much and took away from what she was saying.

I did like how the coloring was however during the rides and the long shots of all the bikes in a row.

I'd like to start doing videos like these and you gave me some great ideas for some. Thanks! Good job.

There was a little color correction done on the running footage. It was shot way too hot, so I had to clamp it down some, then do a little 3 way color correction (FCP native) to make it match the other footage. Otherwise its as shot.


I was shooting through a Tiffen 812 Color Warming Filter, white balanced with it on in the sun.

Perhaps it made the reds pop a little too much. But it really brought out the greens in the grass.

Yeah it did. I loved the coloring on the grass and most everything else. Again, nice job. The interview was great too.
