Comments/Thoughts on New Spec Spots!

Hi gang,

My company just produced a pair of spec spots for the Mr. Goodbar candy bar, on which I was the DP and Co-Director.

I'd love to get some feedback on what's working/not working for you. There are two spots, and two cuts of each so take your pick or watch them all :D

Extended Cuts...
Schoolyard-
Patio Goons-

Broadcast cuts...

We shot on the Panasonic HPX500, w/Fujinon HAc15x7.3 Cine Zoom

Anyone else? Come on, lemme have it! I'm mostly interested to know where these commercials come up short. We're just getting started as a commercial production company so any feedback would be amazing right now :D

Nothing short

Nothing short there, they all seem good to me. Well shot and edited, good story line. Not too annoying which is good for a commercial.

I guess Mr Goodbar would grate on me if you keep these going and do more.

For this series they're great.

Well done, regards

Jeff.

There really good and funny. If I had to say anything maybe a couple of the cuts seemed too long and maybe see a couple more angles/focal lengths. I would also like to hear what more people thought of them. You had some great talent!

Thanks guys! The interesting thing is we did do quite a few extra shots with varying focal lengths, dolly moves, etc.

I found that for commercials, less is more, the frequent angle changes with the extra shots felt awkward and distracted you from the story. Can't really explain it, probably my fault shooting angles that didn't complement each other or something.

Thanks again for the comments.
