Amerigo Vespucci
 

A few months ago I went with my daughter to visit the Amerigo Vespucci in a harbor near Rome. This is a ship used to train soldiers of the Marina Militare (Italian Navy). To serve on this ship is considered a privilege. Was built in Italy during the fascist period in 1931. In 1962 they had an encounter at sea with US ship "Indipendence". They responded to usual interrogation "Who are you?" "Amerigo Vespucci, training boat for the Italian Navy" and the answer they got from the americans was... "You are the most beautiful boat in the world"
