Any critique?

wow! amazing picture,I take it you used a 35mm adapter?

Giovanni Speranza April 28th, 2007 04:34 AM

No, nothing, just the PD-170.
Shallower DOF is obtained always working at wide aperture, shooting from at least 2m or more from the subject, and putting the subject against a distant background.

Really!? That is SUPERB camera work

Marcus Marchesseault April 29th, 2007 11:09 PM

Nice work. I'll be that good someday. :)

Do you perform color correction in post? That doesn't look like stock PD170 color.

Your camera work and lighting is excellent.

Giovanni Speranza April 30th, 2007 02:51 AM

Thanks to all. About color correction, yes, i do it always because i hate video. I use color corrector, some vignetting, some highlight spot and a modified BCC Tritone plugin.

Do you have any tips for getting that nice color from video? I think your color correction is consistently good across all of your clips. It really is a big step in getting a nice look from video and I don't think anyone would notice that your video originated on a $3000 camera instead of film or HD.

The major tips are:
lower blacks, vignetting, less green.
