Shot this at the RedBull GRC event in Seattle. Mostly handheld with Tamron SP F/2.8 24-70 and SP 70-200 lenses on a LEA4 adaptor.

When you say handheld, do you mean using a rig? Because for a such a small factor camera, the footage looks very steady.

That was some pretty nice footage. I have shot quite a few rallycross events myself on shouldermount cameras and you have to be fast to catch the action. And if that was shot with the A7s, I am impressed. Of course watching Sverre Isachsen was fun too.

Thanks. And yes, most of the 'handheld' shots used a compact JAG35 rig.

Some people say that the A7s produces very noticeable rolling shutter effects and as a result would be bad for shooting fast moving objects like in sporting events and most certainly motorsports events. Did you have to do anything to mitigate the rolling shutter effects, or was it never really a problem for you?

Taylor, rolling shutter gets more negative hype than it deserves. As you can see with Ryan, in the right hands, it's simple to eliminate with smooth fluid moves. The answer to rolling shutter, like most things is... experience. :)

Yes, I've known Warwick for years. I do distribution for the series he's working on with Subaru, and he's shot for my show.

The A7S does have pretty severe rolling shutter. Better in APS-C 60p mode. The rallycross video was all shot in FF 30p, however. That said, it is enough to shoot around if you avoid angles and movements that accentuate the effect. (i.e.: I didn't do any rolling shutter corrections in post for this video.)

I really liked the bunny rabbit spectator shot. Would have been funnier if the rabbit was the third in a series of cutaway shots. (racing, spectators 1, spectators 2, rabbit also watching, back to racing)
