Voltage range A7s

Hi

I am struggling to find the voltage range of the A7s, I know the batteries are 7.2v. Basically I have a V-mount plate and batteries that gives out 5v, 8v, and 12v, would the 8v work (not kill the camera)?
Thanks
Rob

Re: Voltage range A7s

I am running my A7s off of a Sony NP970 battery plate.
Some of those batteries charge up to over 8 volts.
All digital cameras have voltage regulators in them to compensate as the batteries run down.
I do not know what the upper limit might be on the A7s but will be trying a 9 volt external battery soon.
I keep remembering back to my $8,000 Kodak DC760.
It also had terrible batteries but really "came to life" when I hooked it up to a small Acid 12 volt battery.
Although the Sony is not performing noticeable better, there have been no problems and it is not running hot.
And, most/all cameras have thermal protection, so I think they would shut down before any damage occurred.

Yes I think 9 volts is not too much and 8 would be safe.
