How long on an XQD card?
 

anybody know how many minutes for sure (websites are confusing) that a 240GB XQD Card will record on SONY FX9 at UHD 4K 23.98?

Close on 120 mins in UHD/4K XAVC-I 24/25p and about 300 minutes in UHD XAVC-L 24/25/30p.

I saw that chart but thought it was using SD cards in SONY FX6 not XQD cards...so why does Sony's own site say 45 minutes at 4K (on the FS7 II)?

Confusing, wonder what's real - I need to know as we may need 16 x 240GB cards if its only 45 minutes each

FYI, the type of card makes no difference to the storage capacity.
SD, XQD, SxS, and other types cards are all the same when all other things are equal.

This is not enough information for an answer. You need to know what codec is being used.

Actually upon reflection that chart I linked to on XDCam User seems wrong? I started to think about what times I was getting on my 128GB XQD cards. I don't shoot 24p only 25p and 50p and was thinking I get around 63 mins in PAL on 128GB shooting UHD 25p XAVC-I and 155 mins shooting UHD 25p XAVC-L. Just double-checked that on the camera and confirmed those figures. I don't have any of the newer 120GB cards so I would imagine a little less than these figures. See chart below. I think you will find these correct.

I'm asking the rental house to set up the FX9 as I want and then tell me what the screen says re: the minutes available on a 240GB card. Seems the only way to easily get this detail.

With your new chart you sent it seems one can get 2 hours per 240GB card, but again SONY implies 45 minutes.

With that codec and frame rate I can get 66 minutes on a 128GB card. So, you can do the math to extrapolate to other card sizes. FYI, whether the camera is setup for S-Gamut3.Cine/SLog3 or something else does not make any difference to the capacity of the card.

Where does Sony imply 45 minutes? Please link to it.

I agree that is very poorly written since it does not identify the frame-rate. It is a UK website so I assume they are talking about 50p. But it is really dumb to make the reader guess.
You can trust my numbers. They come right out of a chart in my FS7 book.

SO you're saying I can probably get roughly 2 hours recording on my 240GB XQD card on FX9 at UHD XAVC-I? 23.98?

You should use 110 minutes as your guide.
This chart comes from my Z750 book and the numbers were taken right from the camera's viewfinder with a freshly formatted card.
