Re: Artemis II Launch with FX6, Z200, and Z750
Hi Doug, thanks for posting that amazing take off, with 4 people actually sitting on top of that giant rocket.
That’s clever production with a nice blend of sfx and music. The rocket sounds are breaking up, so are all the other news reports, I assume you used both camera mics, can’t ask for a sound level beforehand. In Sydney I remember watching the 1969 take off, so the Artemis II mission demonstrates for me and others of my generation, it’s the amazing advances in technology. My young grandkids think that YouTube with their 24/7 NASA channel with live video and conversations with the astronaughts is normal, but for me that’s amazing. I’d say YouTube is getting experience with a zillion people on line to one channel, for their 2029 Oscars presentation. There’s a joke going around. ‘The Yanks want to see how the Chinese are going building the bolt hole for Xi Jingpin in case the balloon goes up.’ Not funny? Happy Easter Doug.

Actually, that is not a technical problem and it is not breaking up. That is really the way the rocket sounds to the naked ear -- and that is why everyone's audio sounds that same way. The sound of a rocket launch is not like the roar of a jet engine, it is a crackling sound, especially those rockets that use solid boosters, such as Artemis. Audio was captured perfectly. :-)

Re: Artemis II Launch with FX6, Z200, and Z750
‘Breaking up’ is a generic term we use in forums so members of the general public will easily understand what’s going on with the unusual sound they’re listening too. Thanks for the location explanation, others will be wondering too.
The more I watch the live NASA Artemis II YouTube channel, because there’s no area or backgound sounds, the more I realise I’m watching a silent movie. NASA and the crew converse and there’s occasional live NASA reports but 10 days of this will be boring. Of course they can’t have open mics and they can’t broadcast the crew chatter, but I think the ‘silent movie’ effect is slowly dawning on YouTube, they’re far more conscious of presentation than NASA, they’re just happy it all works. Their answer is to include a blend of pleasant sounding low musical sounds, one after the other every 1 or 2 minutes. Or pleasant sounding modern light music, maybe light orchestral versions of happy pop tunes. They could also let us hear the crews wake up music too. Maybe member Eric Maytas could help them. Then again, like everyone else I’m happy it’s all working too.

Hah, it looks like YouTube is watching Dvinfo. Sunday 5th April 15.30h local. YouTube is now playing background music and indicating what’s coming next.
Right now there’s a press conference on with NBC news, and it’s the farthest distance ever for a press converstion that’s 155.000 miles from earth. There’s just a 4 sec time delay, and for a guy who was involved with the first Australian radio instant listener talkback programs, that’s incredible. Now CBS news has taken over with different questions. Also now it sounds like the questions and astronauts answers are being directed more to young kids, who have the most basic but interesting questions. My young grandkids are here and are enjoying it.

Re: Artemis II Launch with FX6, Z200, and Z750
Sydney, Sunday 5th April 2200h Local. Looks like YouTube finallly got the message telling NASA ‘we can’t keep showing bland shots of Orion with occasional shots of the moon, even though it’s fast getting closer.’
Because right now YouTube is showing ‘Artemis II Training Film 5, 2025’ title included. I’d say NASA shot all the Astronauts training with the idea of putting together a series of 30 or 60min docos. then selling them to any of the commercial networks that would pay for them. Why would I think this? Well because it’s uncut, unedited footage with a lot of duplicate scene angles, and no narration. We’re hearing the Astronauts speech as they train, and a lot of it is off mic. So I think YouTube has been taking note of public opinion and it’s as I said, mostly boring. So they’ve asked NASA for enough footage to cover the next 2 days and mostly it is interesting, for an hour or so while they wonder what the heck are we going to show on the way back.
