And i am glad that Radek is now basing his judgments on real-life tests rather than "deciphering the specs" and speculating about them...

A lot of these still images still seem to be from the still image mode of the camera and not from actual video footage. I could be wrong but when I look at the chroma it is highly filtered and smoothed.

Saying that however doesn't really mean much right now. Since both modes for the most part are using the same chips and pixel count I wouldn't think there would be that much of a huge picture change between the two modes excluding the massive chroma filtering.

One thing is for sure, this camera might make one heck of a SD camera when down sampled. Well at least in good lighting situations.

Those photoshop touch-ups are look sharper, but seem to have clipped the highlights, very videoish.

Thomas, can the filtering and smoothing in the Chroma be related to debayering and the larger latitude of this camera?

He can work out a lot from true specs and predict what the picture will be like, but they are difficult to find, as they might not want to publish the bad parts (seen this before). I still would like to compare the performance spec with the F900 sensor.

A question though,

I am having trouble reading these reviews, is there any details of the component out, like where ever it tested to be uncompressed output.

I have read the brochure for the two models and notice some differences. There appears to be some dual slope method (puts gain on dark areas to extend the latitude) but not on the HC1. The special Gama curves modes appear to be only on the pro camera. The manual focus and zoom. Are any of these on the HC1?

It is hard to tell what is shot on the HC1, cannot read the labels, there appears to be no fx1 comparison shots.

Looked at all the pictures on the links, nice, I would recommend this camera to home users looking for the best camera. Very impressive for consumer cam (finally) but they need to drop the A1 to within $500-$1000 (too much) of the HC1, it just seems way too expensive.

I can't speak to the other stuff, but the manual focus and zoom are a part of the HC1. Well, manual might be too strong a word. There is the dual-purpose focus/zoom ring at the front of the lens. I hesistate to call it manual since you are not mechanically controlling the zoom or focus with your hands. For lack of a better term, I'll say that it's "psuedo-manual".
