Saw the Red Problem on Film Last Night

Last night I got my Netflix fix: the film Storytelling on DVD.
While watching it I was shocked to see reds were oversaturated in exactly the same way as with the A1 and the HC1. Red cars were 'magentafied' as were red shirts etc...

But according to the IMDB, this movie was apparently shot on film.

That sure as hell gave me some perspective about the red problem. Heh.

If you look back at other threads on red -- I mention this is a very common problem with NTSC on anything.

But what struck me as odd Steve, is this movie was not shot on video at all, but on film!

Even thought the movie may have been shot on film, it still has to be transferred to NTSC for broadcasting. Red has always been the most difficult color for NTSC to reproduce accurately.

I was talking about the reds problem to a photography buff the other day and he told me all video has this problem to some degree or another. Stills don't but video does. He explained why as well. but the explanation didn't make enough sense to me to remember.
