HC-1 AIS Shoe adapter
 

Hi Guys,

Much to my chagrin, I have discovered the HC-1 has that proprietary Sony Hot Shoe. Don't see many adapters out there except on a Euro Site. It was pretty cool; just fit into Sony hot shot with a standard cold shoe on top. Anybody know where I can get one of these?

B&H has a handle with two cold shoes, which I bought for $9.95. But I really want to put a Rode Videomic on the camera itself.

I have a custom made one based on a Kaiser cold shoe adapter. I think Adorama carries the Kaiser for around $20.

HC-1 Hot Shoe Adaptor
 

Hi,

I have a source in Southern California--took a V-shaped 2-headed cold shoe adaptor (a cold shoe on top of each leg of the "V" --one is an inch higher than the other)....

...and they custom-ground the base of this V adaptor to fit snugly into the Sony proprietary shoe....so you can now mount the Rode Video Mic on one shoe and say, an external light on the other....works fine.

Sorry, I don't have a handy picture of the bracket, but you can view it on the manufacturer's site:

It is the MD3000 light and sound bracket...solid, extruded aluminum, as I recall... color: black; weight: 1 lb.
Listed at $30.00ea.

Express Video Supply in Glendale, CA sells it for $34.95. So does Samy's.

This is the bracket I had "modified" to fit into the Sony proprietary shoe:

A video repair technician in Los Angeles charged me 2 hrs. labor @ $50.00 per hour to engineer, then grind the base of the above listed unit to fit my HC-1. I had no other viable options, so I found it to be worth it.

Maybe you can source the same (or better) in your respective areas...

I'm trying to mount an lcd monitor onto my hc1 (to flip the image from a 35mm adapter).

1) I don't know what monitor to get, but I'd like a small cheap one for under $100 if such a thing exists

2) is the hot shoe the best place to mount a monitor?

3) have solutions emerged for mounting monitors to the hot shoe?

4) i have a cavision rod support system. is that a better place to mount my unbought onboard monitor?
