I don't see Sony competeing with the their Z1 anytime soon. A lot of the requests seem to be what the more expensive Z1 offers. Why would they compete with it? They will let it run its course and then update. Granted...they could come out with one that offers partial upgrades, but not complete. Similar to the DSLR market. Tends to piss people off, but oh well.

The DSLR market seems significantly more mature than the HD camcorder market. Part of that maturity is the incremental improvement in the HW. Seems like the A1 is almost first gen is some ways.
