When using HDV in Premiere or Vegas, always use Cineform's great Direct Intermediates to convert it to a different HD codec. It's easier to cut than mpeg2-ts.

Connect HD
I just downloaded the trial version and captured some beautiful footage from my HC-1. It is flawless but when it comes time to render it in Vegas Video to a standard DV (which most people can only playback from) the video is really awful. What properties should I use when rendering to get the best results? I also tried rendering to DVD architect Widescreen which will be it's final destination to create a DVD, but it still looks awful. Is there anyway I can maintain the original captured footage? The properties are .AVI and 1440x1080.

footage of the HC1 HD compared to SD 3chip model of sony?
Has anybody here compared the quality of the footage of this cam, downconverted to DV (either in cam or NLE) to one of the older (but still frequently found) 3-chip model PD-170 ? I would really like to know...
