A1U XLR Block on FX1/FX7

Does anyone know if the XLR block assembly for the A1U can be used on the FX1 or FX7?

Jeff DeMaagd December 7th, 2006 10:29 AM

That XLR block uses an Active Interface Shoe to get the audio into the camcorder. I think it might be specific to the A1, but I would like to be wrong on that one.

The FX1 and FX7 do not have an Active Interface Shoe that I can tell. The best thing I can say is that you can look at BeachTek's line of XLR adapters.

Thanks. That's what I expected. I was hoping to save a little if I upgrade to and FX1 of FX7. I hate to do without the XLR, but the Z1U and V1U are still out of my price range. The A1U is a great little camera, but I need something with better low light performance.

I'll keep dreaming.

Jeff, are you sayign that I could plug the HVR-A1 XLR block into the AIS shoe in my HDR-HC1 and It would work?

I hope it does, but I don't know. I know some people on this board were talking about buying it and trying it, but I don't know what happened.

I don't remember where, but I read a posting on this forum about a month ago which stated the firmware on the HC1 did not support the XLR block.

I'll find out if it works this evening. I have both cameras. I can't believe I never thought to try this.

This will be interesting.... please report...

Sorry about the delay. I'm also sorry to say: No it doesn't work.

To clarify: I plugged my A1 XLR block into the HC1 shoe. The camera never switched from the on-board stereo mics.
