Using DV tape to Record HD 1080 Footages with HVR-HD1000?

I planned to buy HD1000 cam by using standard sony DV Tape to record in HD 1080 format, (Cost saving for HD Tapes) As i know might cause some frame drop/ dropout? How really "Bad" is the footages if dropout when using DV tape recording in HD setting format? Is the footage still usable/viewable when transfer to Editing software?

What is the risk if using DV tape in HD format? Is the DV tape are almost same type/material compare with HD tape?

There are no different specifications for HDV tape and MiniDV tape. In other words, any manufacturer of MiniDV tapes (that meet specs for MiniDV tape) can slap HDV on the label without it being a false claim.

Many, many people use MiniDV tapes that do not say "HDV" anywhere on the packaging, without any trouble at all.

I don't use the cheapest tapes in my good camcorders, but I will not pay extra to see "HDV" on the package. I like Panasonic's MQ MiniDV tapes, but they discontinued them, so now I am going to start using Maxell's "Pro" MiniDV tapes.
