HVR-V1u and time markers in FCP

Hi,

Here is my situation :

I shoot freeskiing and most of the time the first shot isn't the good one. When I want to export the footage on FCP I have to export the entire tape then search for the good take, it's very long..

What I'd like :

I'd like to be able to ''mark'' the good shots directly after shooting it, by pressing a button. When exporting, FCP would recognize those marks and I could easily find the right take.

IF this is not possible

Can I, when exporting on FCP, add markers without stopping the whole process ?

My second question is about the way FCP create the clips from the V1. I'd like FCP to create a new clip that begin at every time I press record and end while I press it a second time. I guess it's somewhere in the preferences but I can't find it.

Well, thanks a lot dvinfo !

One trick I learned while shooting BetacamSP was that right after I had a good take of something that was being repeated multiple times, I would flip on color bars real quick for about 5 seconds. Then, when I got back to the studio to edit, I could scrub through the tape and only capture the clips just before the bits of color bars.

Not only did it make the ingestion process quite a bit faster, but since I wasn't capturing the entire tape, my hard drives didn't fill up as quickly!

Hope this helps...
