JVC 720p HDV will this minidv play on Sony v1u
 

Does anyone know if JVC 720p tapes will play on a V1U, I would think they should play, but the client that has the tapes says it will only play on a JVC camera or deck...I'll post this on the JVC site too. Thanks GM

It kind of works.
 

I can confirm they will play back but can't be digitized using the i.link connection. Page 114 of the manual has this blurb:
• Your camcorder can play back pictures recorded in the HDV 720/30p format, but cannot output it from the HDV/DV interface (i.LINK).

There is device control through the i.Link. Maybe going out HDMI into an Intensity card is will allow capture. I don't have time to confirm this right now, but maybe in the next couple of days I can give it a try.


Edit: I can confirm that the Intensity card allowed me to capture JVC footage from the V1U through the HDMI. Worked like a charm.
