in focus with HDV

Couldn’t find this is on site. What is the best way to make sure you are in focus on subject. With HD the LCD doesn’t show true focus. I use mostly auto focus but, realize that if subject is not in center of frame, I will get out a of focus or soft looking subject.

What can I do to make insure I’m in focus on subject?

Thanks, Ron

If your comfortable with auto focus, I'd suggest putting the FX7/V1 in manual focus, center on your subject and push the auto focus botton (under the exposure dial). Then you can compose you shot.

Use the PEAKING function in conjunction with EXPANDED FOCUS. Pages 35, 65-66 of FX7 manual; 33, 70-71 of V1 manual.

I always keep a pair of reading glasses in the camera case. Then, manual focus with occasional momentary auto-focus. Peaking is assigned to a button, and is almost always on.

It's easy to get caught out on this issue with HDV camcorders.

Its rare AF lets me down, i cant keep up with any fast moving objects on manual there are times when manual is the better option but rare for me.The same aplies to my little canon.
