v1 wide angle attaching filters?

have just ordered my v1 and was wondering about attaching filter to w/a lens (sony one which comes with hood).

i rarely take w/a off any of my cameras - in fact, other than for the odd clean, my w/a has been on my pd170 for the last four years. but with that one there was no way of attaching a filter. apparently the w/a for the v1 has a 86mm thread (?), but in the blurb, it reads as if i have to use either the hood OR a filter, not both together.

could anyone confirm how to use a filter on the w/a with/out hood?

thanks in advance

leslie

Apart from a matte box no go, no thread on the lens.

The Century 0.65 WA lens is not only a more useful lens than the Sony, it's got a thread on the front, costs around the same, is lighter and claimed to loose less light. And it's a zoom through adaptor like the Sony.

The Sony VCL-HG0862K comes with a 86mm thread up front
You can fit a 86mm filter under the hood, bit tight with the thicker Tiffens but fine with the Hoya types

Cheers

Bob,

Which Century adaptor are you talking about? Is it one specifically for the V1 or are you talking about using another model with step rings?

Tony can you zoom thru this lens? does have threads on the outside?

Thanks

Bob

yes you can zoom through to get a decent dof, and yes it has a 82mm thread on the outside which i have a filter on.

Sorry I don't have the latest catalogue from Century with me, left it at work.
Yes they announced a couple of lenses at NAB for the V1.
Apart from the teleconverters there's two W.A. lenses.
One 0.55 that's non zoom through and a 0.65 that is zoom through.
I think there was a fisheye as well but it's the 0.65 W.A. that's the most interesting.

Ok, here ya go:

OK now we have the Raynox HD7062PRO coming out in May i believe, and the Sony VCL-HG0862, and now the Century 0HD-65CV-SH6 lens which, according to the picture on the website Bob posted above, looks like it was designed for the V1/FX7.

Question : I cant find the thread diameter anywhere on the Century specs. I would assume it IS 62mm, but they have a diagram that says the rear EXTERNAL diameter is 80mm, but no indication as far as i can see of the thread size. I guess it must be 62mm, but strange that they dont state that.

Anyone know for sure?
