V1U and Letus35 Flip

Hey guys, here are 2 sample clips of a V1U and a Letus35 flip, I don't know if some people were interested in this combination, but I really like how the V1U footage looks with it, plus I can hand held the combo without tiring much since the V1U is so light to begin with. The first clip is a sample of a close up and the second clip is one taken at sunset and lowlight. I was really surprised how the Letus handled in low light coupled already with the V1U which is supposedly "terrible" in low light. In my opinion it handled pretty well and I really like the V1U's color reproduction.

* this second clip was encoded with H.264 codec because I had to make the file smaller than 100mb to store it on rapidshare.

Hope you guys like the footage.

Wendell Alvero May 22nd, 2007 09:10 PM

Do you get dust?

Wendell,
I have the same set up as you do with the Letus35 and a V1U. Its a great combo. Do you experience a lot of dust issues with your letus35. I seem to be getting circular moving dust spots on the video which tells me its on the moving peice of glass inside.

Here is a link my latest video with that combo,
www.wampictures.info/movies/brandon.mov

If you look in the top right corner you can slightly see the moving dust. what do you clean yours with? Do you have this issue?

let me know what you think when you get a chance.

thanks!

Hey Winston Ashley

Hey Winston how portiable is your v1u with the Letus35 Flip Enhanced on the front. I plan on getting one to use this summer at sunnybrae bible camp this summer? and a epic underwater housing for lake shots.

Portable V1U and letus35

Nathan,
I am not sure about the under water housing but it looks to me, hard to focus using the letus flip. I am constantly having my hand on the 35mm lens to check my focus.

I think the V1u and letus flip is great for portablility. i stuck it in a big photography back pack and went to cambodia, thailand and china with it!

I also just shot a bunch of camp footage for a Young Life camp in Williams, AZ (slow motion effect is great for blob and zip line). Its a hard tool to use so if you have a first time intern on the camera it might be tough for them to use all the parts at once. Plus my issue is with the dust.

The indi rails will work but then your adding weight to the camera. I like to just screw the letus35 on add the EOS lens and worry about just staying in focus. Hope that helps.

letus35

Winston,
So the letus isn't to front heavy on v1u. how are your threads holding up? I will be shooting all the camp footage myself so i don't think the learning curv will be a problem.

any tips on making a more effective camp video? I have been doing camp stuff for the last 4 years but it it's always good to hear from someone else.
