It seems unfair to compare the biggest and best CRT available for consumers (Sony WEGA 40") with even a new LCD. However, the Sony Bravia displayed the best picture I'd ever seen with their Bravo demo disk. Unbelievable!Though I am sure this would also look good on the CRT, albeit with flickering from the interlaced display.

Anyway, I would like to find a better way to view 1080i from my tapes on my LCD TV. My experience with the 1080i (and even 480i) component output of my FX1 or Z1 has been completely positive on the Sony WEGA 40" CRT. For a screen diagonal that is 50% bigger, the Sony Bravia 52" LCD TV has been disappointing. If I hadn't seen the CRT, I would probably be quite happy with the LCD, as it isn't bad.

I may well have to capture the video to disk and use a computer with a high-end video card. As my current PC GFX card maxes out at 1600x1200 for DVI, I will have to get a new card which will probably be PCI express or SLI, which will require a new motherboard. More gear to buy ...
