BeachTek excellent experience

Just wanted to share with you guys.
Just got off the phone with them, they have a new one for $249 and $190 for refurbished one. Both have same 1 year warranty. Free shipping.
I got the refurbished one since the warranty is same for $190 total.

Btw, they mentioned that it's now discontinued.
Regards, KC.

Should clarify that the specific unit you are referring to is the DXA-FX, which has been replaced by the DXA-4. The refurbed FXes are the same price as the new 4s, and in fact the 4 is $10 cheaper at B&H than at the Beachtek online store. Also, the 4 now adds an AUX mini-plug input which the FX lacks. They are almost identical in size and shape, with the FX version being about 1/4" narrower, according to the specs at B&H. It also appears that the FX is powered, while the 4 is not.

yeah

forgot to mention, it was a dxa-fx I purchased.
however it's not replaced by dxa-4, dxa-4 is an older one and simplier, the one you are referring to is called different. and by the way, b&h sells dxa-fx for more than bt store.

I only used dxa-4 before until left channel got shot, let's see the difference once I get the fx unit.

Yes, B&H wants considerably more for the FX than if you buy it from Beachtek directly, but the 4 (as I noted) is cheaper at B&H if that's the adapter you want.

I bought the 4 because I wanted the AUX input, just in case. Just arrived yesterday so I haven't had a chance to try it out yet. Other features seem to be identical, although I suppose they do work differently inside.

I think you're right that the 4 predates the FX, but by replaced I meant that this is now the model BT recommends for the FX1, as the FX is no longer being made and the DXA-4 is. So maybe we should just say that the 4 *outlasted* the FX....

no

he recommended me another model which he quoted around $400 for.

I bought the other model that he recommended (DXA-6A HD), the top of the line BeachTek. I was initially going to buy the refurb. The HD model, while more expensive, does have it's own pre-amps, bypassing the noisier ones built into the camera. The sound is very clean.

We shoot with an FX-1 and an HC-7 will that one work on the HC-7 also?

Thanks!

Bill

I have a DXA-6, as new, in box, which I no longer need.

They have a new HD model that has been highly recommended. I do not know enough about all this yet to be sure of the differences :-(

Thanks!

Bill
