Sci-Fi/Horror Feature film shot with a Z1u
Hi to you guys at DV info, it's been a while for me (I visit regularly but I haven't posted for a long time).
I just finished a feature film using the Z1u (bare, that is without any lens adapter). The film is entitled Hunting Grounds, it's a 101 minutes feature and it's been quite an experience. You can see two trailers for the project here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sm6CGKYbseI http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IzNlHCVDAeU It will be premiered at the Bare Bones film festival in Muskogee OK on saturday april 26. Here is the link for those who might like to go see what it looks like: http://barebones.bside.com/?_view=_f...ilmId=61594748 The workflow with the Z1u has been the following: We shot in 50i, digitized in HDV, de-interlaced and exported as DVCproHD 1440X1080, conformed the footage to 24fps and edited at 24fps all the way on FCP. For a lot of the FX work, I redigitised using my KonaLH in 4:2:2 8bit or 10bit uncompressed fron the analog signal witch got rid of a lot of compression noise. It's short but if you have questions I'll be happy to get more into the details. Eric |

Correct, the actual DVCPRO HD IS 1280X1080, witch is why I mentionned the size. I compressed in DVCPRO HD but kept the original HDV image size, it worked flawlessly in FCP, of course, the timeline was also 1440X1080 DVCPRO HD ;)
