FX-1 Shoe Bracket

The FX1 has just the one accessory shoe. I find that mounting a mic on it prevents the LCD from being opened, so I'd like to offset the mounting point. What I really want is a shoe converter so that I can mount both a mic and a light, one to the left and one to the right.
I searched brackets here and came across this..

but it looks very cumbersome.

Actually I should ammend my last post as I've now learned that I can attach a Z1 mic holder onto the FX-1. So my question should be, does anyone have a link to a supplier of the Z1 mic holder?
Thanking you.

Our search function can answer many questions: http://www.dvinfo.net/conf/showthrea...=z1+mic+holder

BTW, once you get the Z1 mic holder, I have converted 2 of my FX1's with these, then take a look at www.thej-rod.com and pickup their twin mount. I use it to mount my wireless (or 2 wireless) and Rode shotgun mic.

How about this one

I mount my HVL LBP in the middle of the camera so it won't be front heavy.

I bought that here:

Thats what I use on my handle as well.

I have the HDV bracket on one FX1 and a Delvcam handle bracket on the other. The Delvcam one has some cable management if needed on it, but I prefer the smaller HDVBracket myself.

Good suggestion.

Very Helpful.

Ricky, one question.
How are you running, both, a Rode Video Mic and the Sennheiser wireless to your FX1 without the need of an XLR box like a Beachtek or Juicedlink XLR adapter.

Are you running a splitter to the FX1's 1/8 mic input?
If so, which one, and how is the audio quality?
Do you have a problem with signal overload (clipping)?
As, you don't obviously have independent control over the individual L/R channels of audio on the FX1 or individual pot adjustments like that from an XLR adapter unit.

EDIT: Never mind I just now noticed that you seem to have a Beachtek DXA-FX box attached to the bottom.
BTW, have you had a chance to try the new DXA-6HD box with built in pre amps. Or possibly a Juicedlink CX211 with built in pre amps as well, as these units are real quiet. (I ahve done a few reviews on the Juicedlink boxes.

The part # for that mic mount is X-2023-933-1 HOLDER ASSY, MICROPHONE. Remember that the screws are separate and you will need to fabricate the spaces that sony does not sell separately from the whole handle assembly (Part # 19 on the diagram).

I'll attach an exploded parts diagram too.
Thanks for the nice words about The J-Rod Michael ! It will help you if you get the Z1 mic mount Dugi.

Thanks again Jeff. All sorted.

Michael,

Yup! I do use the DXA FX Beachtek and Im pretty satisfied w/it though I hav'nt had a chance experimenting w/other brands as you've mentioned.

Dugi,

I bought my mic holder from John Woo in Singapore, and took less than 2 weeks for shipping. Mounting it was easy. I still see it for sale in Ebay though.

Thanks.

It seems that VFGadgets has stopped making this bracket.
I have the VFGadgets DV bracket and it works very well.

But I also have this bracket DELVG10801 Handle Bracket

Which works very well as well. It a bit larger than the VFGadgets one. but it has a nice cable management feature which helps keep cables out of the way if needed.
