No audio on capture from Z1

It's very strange.

Today I tried to capture some images I had taped in HDV, downconverting to DV. The video captures OK... but I get no audio!

There's audio, of course, as I listen to it as it's captured, but the files are mute.

Right now I took another tape that was recorded on my PDX10, in DV, and played/captured to my PC with the Z1, and audio gets captured fine.

Is there some setup step I am missing to capture from HDV?

What editing software are you using and what are your project settings?

In this case I was not using any editing software, but WinDV, a simple but very effective capture program.

For settings it has only two: type 1 avi (iavs) and type 2 avid (vid + aud). It was set for type 2.

Do remember, as I said, that I put a DV recording first on the Z1 and I did capture with sound. Keeping all things equal I inserted and HDV, and got video but no audio.

Problem solved. Or at least I found part of the reason for my problem, even if I am not sure how to solve it.

The problem is something on the XP and the SP3 update, probably dealing with the audio driver. I remember reading there might be a problem with the HD Realtek drive, and there was a fix file for that, which I never installed. Maybe it's time I do.

What I did was boot-up my machine using another HD I have, with an XP S2 fresh installation, and capture from there. The sound came out alright.

In any case, if someone has a similar problem be aware that this "mute problem" might happen.
