Sony's FX-1 -- Links!

I found these and want to share:

http://www.sonybiz.net/cgi-bin/bvisa...EY=ssw-hdvhubE

Official brouchure:

http://www.sonybiz.net/cgi-bin/bvisa...ORDER0904E.pdf

They actually say "DVCAM" on the brochure! If you read the fine print it says, "a step up from DVCAM".

If you read the Q&A section it mentions that the HDV camera is for the low-budget filmmaker. So, that puts that to rest....it's target audience IS filmmakers. (however, it does mention other target markets too)

Also:
http://news.sel.sony.com/hdvcamcorder/

Check out the "High Resolution Images" - they are HUGE, but unbelieveably clear on my 23" Cinema. It looks like I can reach in and touch the damn thing!! I wish I could!

Official "contacts" for the HDV camera. Heath, can you interview them for us like you did the "Open Water" guys???

I've got the "HDV Camcorder" PDF file, and the "HDV Contacts" PDF if anyone wants it....the links are dead, but Murph's downloaded files are alive and well! :)

Okay- very cool.
I'm looking at the info, and seee that it mentions' "Cinegamma," and "cinerate."
Does that mean that it shoots 24p? Why dont they just say that? Anyone know?

Jeff P

Brett Erskine September 23rd, 2004 04:15 AM

I second that. Does it shoot 24p, 24pa and or 30p? Does it have a 1/48th shutter speed setting?

Tre Stylez September 23rd, 2004 05:14 AM

Have a read of: http://www.camcorderinfo.com/content/Sony-HDR-FX1-First-Impression-Camcorder-Review.htm

No it doesnt do any "P"

Chris Hurd September 23rd, 2004 09:02 AM

It's strictly interlace; no progressive scan on this camera.

Why does it say it has xlr inputs?

Barry Green October 24th, 2004 03:40 PM

Because that's the "pro" version, not the FX1. The "pro" version also includes DVCAM recording capability, which you'll see listed on the brochure.

And, for Murph, this is the brochure I was talking about before, which references the "pro" version but also says that it's HDV.

Thanks, D.S.E.

I ordered your "HDV: What You NEED to Know" Book. Your web site only offers the option for a discounted 1st edition, but I was able to order the 2nd edition from Amazon.com .

Cool. The first edition is great, but the second goes deep into how to use the cameras, cutting with HDV, toys (matte box, etc.), audio, etc.
