Is it good for...?

Hello,
I am just curious...what you guys think ,what group of people will be using the new SONY HDV camera ?? I mean would it be good for home vidoes, weddings, or documentaries , may be low budget features ??? For me it does look beautiful but not as filmic as the JVC cam.Would the SONY will be a better choice for any of the above mentioned . I am not thinking for the final format to be film...probably just dvd or d-vhs ..... Gabor

Well, at this point, I don't think there is just ONE use for this camera, it seems to have the potential to do it all, but not as well as the Pro version, which WILL do it all 8) . Right now, from the footage I've seen, it seems to be a really great looking camera all around. But I think we'll have to wait until the two cameras come out before there's a clear answer to your question.

Gabor, this camera will appeal to anybody looking to move into affordable high-definition video production. The group of people using it will be as diverse as any group using any other camera. The applications will vary from one user to another. No camera is limited in what it might be used for... limitations come only from the person using the camera. On one hand you might find a person with the most expensive camera in the world, and they're using it only to shoot their vacation in Belize. On the other hand, you will find someone with the cheapest camera in the world and they will make a masterpiece, a dramatic work of art worthy of transfer to 35mm film.

The Sony FX1 will be as broadly accepted as the old Sony VX1000 was back in 1995, and used for just as many purposes.
