FX1 video cannot be monitored in real time?

I see there is a delay in HDV mode. Am I reading the specs right?

Has anyone on this site who owns the FX1 has ever monitored the video while in HDV mode?

If you're monitoring off the Firewire out, this is correct. It's a buffered output, so there is latency. If you view the Svid or component out, there is no delay.

I have used my Toshiba P-20 WS P-IV 3.2Ghz laptop to monitor FX-1e HDV via firewire. (note: you'll need VLC to do so on a PC) There is indeed a noticeable delay between the live action and the image displayed on screen. It's about 1.5 seconds or there-abouts. Some people might feel upset at that... others like myself couldn't give a rat's... Depends on why you want the live preview I guess.

As Douglas mentioned: for any truly live - no delay - monitoring at 1080, connect the cam to a HDTV via component output. Most component display devices aren't as portable as firewire enabled WS laptops though...

Just wondering why you need to know this? There are previous threads that have covered this ground before...
