FX1 in humid climates

I'm taking my FX1 down to Thailand in august, and since the monsoon is full under way, it will be really hot and humid.

Do you think the FX1 will cope or do I have to take special precautions?

Can't comment on Thailand, but can say that in Singapore, the Z1 did fabulously well for me, even when I left it in a black leather interior car and the cam got too hot to press to my eye for a while. (stupid me, just forgot it was there)

I was in Thailand in early October and found it less humid than Florida. But I had to be careful when I went from hotel room to outside or things would fog up. I suggest you open your bag just a crack and let it adjust slowly when going from inside to oustide rather than whipping it out all at once. I usually let mine sit in the partly open bag for about 15 minutes first and had no issues.

But I had the JVC GR-HD1 at the time.

Thanks for the input Douglas and Bryan.

tape life

Hello,

I was in Hong Kong for a while - usually very humid there. I'm not sure about this, but it seemed to me that the humidity caused my tapes to breakdown quicker then normal (more drop outs).

I could be wrong about that, but just to be safe, I'd back-up the tapes as soon as I got back to lower humidity.

Take care,
Ron
