FX1 Movie- Cheated

Hey guys,

Here is the trailor to a short film we just finished.
Give it a couple minutes to download completely before playing.

Shot on an FX1.

Gotta love the heart wrenching trauma of relationships!!

Why was the avi letterboxed, with such large bands of black at top and bottom? You could up the actual video size without the leterboxing and still keep the file size approximately the same...

Nice to see stuff being produced with HDV camcorders though!!

Hey Steve,

Thanks for watching.
My professor hosted the clip on his website, I don't really know why it's like that.

Question: From watching the trailor, what do you think this movie is about?

I guarantee you, it is NOT what you think..........

The original movie clip is that shape - who ever encoded the movie got the dimensions the wrong way around, it's 360x480, when it should be 480x360!

Anyone else?

Thanks for posting!

What did I think your movie was about after watching the trailer? Well... I certainly didn't think it was about a bright and happy future - reducing to black and white 'highlights' dramatic tension, and in this case reinforces the psychological intent behind the actions of those who appear to be the story's main protagonists.

The more important thing is... how do you feel it went? Are you happy with the total product? It says what you want to say? It does it visually in the way you wanted?

From the perspective of a HDV camcorder owner/user, you've done fine with a new technology, that many 'hardened' professionals are creating excuses to steer clear of - so in that regard, it's refreshing to see that HDV doesn't even enter into your enjoyment of the more important and rewarding aspects of creating your vision.

If you get the opportunity to adjust the aspect/dimensions of your clip to maximize the impact of using HDV as your source material... it might be worth doing.
