Can you put an external mic on the FX1?

Hi Bob,

Loads of info on the forum on how to rig out an FX1.. run a search and you find loads of answers...

But IMO you'd be best off screwing a Beachtek or Sign Video XLR Pro adapter to you camera and adding a good quality XLR mic...I use an Audio Technica 897, which is very good. This set up works very well..

Doing a search on this forum is def the way to go and I agree with Gareth about the Beachtek or Sign Video XLR Pro adapter to your camera and adding a good quality XLR mic.

I just got my Beachtek last week although haven’t had a chance to play with it yet as my mic isn’t here yet, but I brought the Beachtek DXA-FX which was made exclusively for the FX1. Hope this helps.

yes it helps, but I thought i read that there was no clamp for a external mic. That must be wrong.

No, that was correct. The FX1 doesn't have an external mike clamp. The Z1 does. You need to find a third party solution for an on-camera mike with the FX1.
