Z1U Built in Mic?

[1] Does this camera have a built in mic? It certainly looks like in does in photos but there is no mention of it on BH website product specifications.

[2] Is it a stereo mic.

[3] Can it be assigned to only one mono channel?

No. The menu settings only allow you to use either BOTH channels of the internal mike as a stereo pair, or the XLR sockets. The XLR sockets can be fed to either one or both of the audio channels, but you cannot use both the internal mike and an external mike in any combination at the same time.

I wouldn't use the built-in mic; mics are like hand grenades, only effective at close range. Buy a nice microphone, preferably a mono/unidirectional one for dialogue, etc., and plug it into the XLR.
