z1u downconvert help

I'm using the z1u to capture footage that was shot in hdv as dv. I have i.link convert set to on and down convert set to edge crop. Some of my clips are being capture fine, in 4:3 dv. Some others for some reason are being "squeezed," even though they were all shot and captured with the same settings. Any ideas? BTW, I'm running FCP 5.0.4.

I would check the clip properties in FCP. It doesn't really matter what mode they're captured in, you can change the anamorphic property later. In the clip browser, scroll way off towards the right until you see the anamorphic column. I'll bet that the "squashed" clips will have a check in the column. Just click to remove the check and the clip should be fine.

This could happen if you captured the problem clips in a project that was created with a different Easy Setup.

That was it, thanks.
