Z5 HD Firewire Capture

I am presently using Final Cut Pro 6. I am having trouble seeing my footage on the canvas and I am not able to capture footage. (1080i 60i) from my Sony dv tape.
I do have control of my VTR though. Does anybody have an idea of proper settings?
I figure I put this question on this thread because of the Z5 thinking someone is is the same situation as me.

You don't say whether your VTR is another machine or the Z5 - in which case whatever your issue is may have nothing to do with the Z5.

If you are actually capturing off the Z5, have you checked what your export settings are for capture?

I've only had our Z5 for a few days, but I have had no problem importing footage into FCP, either 25p or 50i.

I tried the standard method of pulling in HDV with no problems, but now I use the method of converting to ProRes on import, which has editing benefits.

I'm happy to advise on my settings if it's a settings issue..?
