Greg,

My light meter is ancient!!!

It really does not mater as it is all relative to ones meter and camera.

I went back and checked and as mentioned is how my meter reads!!!

Sense both of my cam corders read about the same I reckon my meter is at least uniform!!

I would just set it so it works for ones own equipment!!

Perhaps I should upgrade to a newer meter, but man have they gotten expensive!!!! I think mine was 30 dollars in about 1975.

You might be able to get your meter recalibrated if it's a good quality make, analogue meters can still do a good job.

Re: asa?

Revisiting an old thread. Sony just introduced a new camcorder that is supposed to be out this summer and they actually do rate the ISO. From viewing sample videos I am sure it will shoot in lower light than the Z5/FX1000. The new model is rated at 800 ISO. Based on the new models spec, the Z7/Z5/FX1000 might be in the 400 to 640 range.

Greg, come on! Tell us about the new camera! I have been waiting for something huge from Sony! Is this it?

I just saw info with 800 iso on a F3 model, but it costs 16k without lenses. Is that the one your referring to? Looks awesome.

Re: asa?

Hi Jeff, yes it was the PMW-F3 that lists a 800 ISO spec. But the NEX-FS100U appears to have the same image chip in a smaller and cheaper package. $6550 with the 18-200 lens. It is AVCHD instead of XDCAM EX. And there are other differences obviously, but it still looks very interesting.
