LCD Improvements to the Z5U?

Did Sony ever update the LCD with a better quality unit on recent Z5 camcorders?

Original one was/is ok, but LCD technology has gotten significantly better, price cheaper. LCD's used on newer cams are noticable bighter and higher definition, easier to ensure proper focus and notice any camera setting anomolies. Big difference if you haven't used one. Overall, I was just curious if Sony had made any running changes to the cam, but it doesn't sound like it.

i should doubt it, otherwise they'd certainly be spruking BIGGER, BETTER, CLEANER, and charging a premium for it ;-)

They never do. They save this for new releases (i.e. EX1 > EX1r).
