Picking the Right tripod for the Z7U

I'm looking to upgrade my tripod on a budget, and I see Manfrotto/Bogen is offering a $100 rebate on their 351/503HDV tripod packages with free shipping from B&H. That would make it $499 after the rebate comes back, which is on-par and in some cases cheaper than I am seeing them selling for used on ebay ($462.99 + shipping is the lowest I've seen, but I've seen used tripods going for over $500 around Christmas).

I'm planning on adding a mattebox and rails to the camera in the next few months, and wasn't sure if the 503HDV head was going to be sturdy enough to support all of the extra weight.

I was wondering if I should go for a larger camera plate variety of tripod, like a used Sachtler DV series - and if so, what recommendations do people have?

I need something lightweight, sturdy and capable of handling up to 12-13 lbs.

If anyone is using the 525 or 325 legs with the 503HDV head, I'd like to hear how you like this model of tripod with the Z7U. Thanks in advance.

Cheers!

I have the 503/525 combo.
I don't recommend it. Only if you can't afford better.

I've used it with my DVX and an HVX occasionally.

It sticks.
When fully zoomed in on an interview or a tight shot, and you want to make just a slight adjustment because the talent moved, it will stick when you try the move and ruin the shot.

I'm getting a Sachtler soon.

Buy the right tripod the first time and use it for many years.
