Homemade LCD-loupe for the Z7
5 Attachment(s)
With a lot of sowing help from my wife, I made this viewfinder for the LCD-screen of the Z7. It attaches to the screen with velcro, the body is in plastic (from a DVD-box) and it is covered with black cloth in order to make the velcro stick. The loupe comes from an old Mamyia C33 focusing ocular, which has exactly the good coverage and focus distance. Of course that distance will depend on your dioptry correction if you wear glasses, like I do.
The loupe is put slightly out of centre to the left, as I focus with my left eye. It flaps open to be able to see the entire screen. This way the Z7 becomes a shouldermounted camera, whcih is a blessing for my right arm, especially when the rather heavy wide-angle convertor is mounted. |
Very nice, when are you going to start production? :)

I would like to try to build something using the magnifier piece from all of the old Sony viewfinders on the pro cameras. They had a weak hinge that was always getting broken off. But it had excellent magnification and it also has a diopter adjustment to suit different vision capabilities. I think it was the DFX-501 electronic viewfinder. There should be tons of them laying around, no longer in use. But engineering pieces like this are not my strong point.
